The spindle is very nice and light weight. As a new spindler, I would not recommend it as a first support spindle. I think if there was a notch at the top it would make it a little easier to get the material on the spindle. I even had trouble with a leader attaching to get started. But, it is a very nice fast spinning, with nothing on it, spindle. Oh, and the support works as well.
